This has been quite an intense and busy week and its only Wednesday. I’ve been running harder than ever before, and am really feeling it. Whew!
Our new puppy Eliza moved in today, and we also finished moving Colette and William into their own rooms. Still plenty of work to be done organizing their stuff, but we are off to a good start. Daddy has had quite enough of assembling furniture.
Got my new @Dyme_Lyfe jacket in the mail today and I am hype for 🙌🏈 to start!
Samsung beating Apple to market with an overpriced, easily breakable, questionably designed foldable phone isn’t worth celebrating. Beating Apple to market on an inexpensive, LTE-enabled, 23-hour battery life, ARM-powered laptop? That’s a different story.
It was finally time to upgrade my Synology NAS, a four bay DS415+. I just ordered a five bay DS1019+, which is faster, more expandable, and has hardware acceleration for h.264 and HEVC. Anyone want to buy my old unit? It’s great, I have just outgrown it!
Thrilled to see the return of NetNewsWire as an open source app. Thanks for your vision and commitment, @brentsimmons! For those of you returning to feeds again and looking for things to subscribe to, I have a real-time listing of my subscriptions here – https://cleverdevil.io/following
I'm hiring for an amazing role, reporting directly into me. Hands-on technology leadership with an opportunity to participate in the fastest growing market in history. Check it out! – https://hire.withgoogle.com/public/jobs/missioncloudcom/view/P_AAAAAADAADPDuXh_EejevH
Went to see Blinded by the Light with @cleverangel tonight. In spite of so many things, I really enjoyed it. Its nice to see a genuine, feel-good movie once in a while. Especially one that dunks on fascists.
Looking for a simple hub for my new home office. I want USB-C to my computer and then 4x USB-C and USB-A ports on the hub. Nothing else (HDMI, Ethernet, microSD, etc.). I can’t find anything!
Update on USB-C hubs. I've found this one - https://www.amazon.com/Macally-Ultimate-Powered-Charging-Station/dp/B079Y8S4L3/ - which is close to what I want. Too few USB-C ports, but the best option I've found so far. My ideal would be 4x USB-C and 4x USB-A (3.0).
🗣🗣️🗣️ Don't use Chrome. Firefox, Safari, and Brave are fantastic alternatives that actually respect your privacy. https://freedom-to-tinker.com/2019/08/23/deconstructing-googles-excuses-on-tracking-protection/
Finally finished catching up on the Saga comic series last night. Incredible world building, great characters, and gorgeous art. The cliffhanger at the end of book 54 though? Wow!
Sigh... the Google Product Black Hole™ strikes again. They really need to change this behavior if they want to build *any* new line of business other than ads. https://www.theverge.com/2019/8/28/20837004/google-hire-next-tool-shut-down-service-jobs-hiring-recruiting-inbox-allo
I use “type to Siri” all the time on my iPad Pro. Its fantastically powerful and a great feature, but annoyingly, even if you have “silent” mode enabled and your volume all the way down, Siri still audibly responds to your commands. Why?! #shhhh
Watching bad college football games in my pajamas on a Saturday morning. We’re back baby!
