I’m in the market for a battery-powered, Wi-Fi connected programmable sign. I want to attach it to my office door so that I can tell my family (well, mostly my kids) when its OK to enter, and when I need silence. Any ideas?
I do have a very old Amazon Fire tablet that we don’t use anymore now that the kids have iPads. Perhaps I could hack that up? Plugging it in to see what I can do... would be nice if I could jailbreak it...
I now have a battery-powered, Wi-Fi connected, Siri-enabled digital status sign on my office door. I'll post some pictures, videos, and details later, but its pretty awesome to be able to say "Hey Siri, don't bother daddy!" 🙅🏻♂️
Set up the tent in the back yard for some “glamping” with the kiddos tonight. We are watching a movie using the projector, and snuggling up. 🏕🎥
I’ve named my digital sign for notifying my family of my work status (Do Not Disturb, Quiet Please, and Available) the “Daddyboard.” Today, I also spent a little time integrating it with Hammerspoon, so I can switch statuses with keyboard shortcuts. Lua FTW!

Thank God for the Bob Appetit Test Kitchen on YouTube. Hours of entertainment.
I'm seeing a real problem with dangerous and misleading content that has been de-platformed (from, say, Medium) getting traction and going viral with links to @internetarchive. This seems like something they should address.
My 2017 13" MacBook Pro is really not working well for me anymore. Its becoming clear that a 3.1 GHz i5 and 16 GB of RAM is insufficient for my day-to-day. This is partially due to the fact that all computers now have 78 instances of Chromium running...
The worst part is that I have no viable option to replace my laptop, because Apple has a gaping hole in the middle of the lineup. The new 16" MBP looks great, but is far too big. The MacBook Air is underpowered for me. The 13" MBP hasn't been updated yet. Sigh.
Having a lot of fun on Zoom with my friend Andy, showing off IndieWeb!
I feel your pain. It does get better as you get used to it!

So good it’s almost hard to believe a team like this will ever exist again.
Hmm... I can’t seem to get my patched “nerd font” working on iPadOS... has anyone managed to get one working? I am using the same OTF file that I use on macOS, installed in iPadOS via AnyFont.
Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro review:
• Keyboard is better than the one on my 2017 MBP.
• Heavy. Too heavy.
• Trackpad is amazing, but too small.
• I’ll miss being able to fold the keyboard behind the iPad.
• Less than half the price of four iMac Pro wheels!
I've delivered four presos / live Q&As on @awscloud cost optimization in the past two weeks, and demand isn't slowing. Businesses are really feeling the pressure. Happy to be in a position to be able to help!
Anyone know of an app for iOS / iPad OS that provides “Today” widgets for HomeKit? I’d like to show the current status of specific devices, and be able to interact with them from my home screen.
A few days in with the Magic Keyboard and its making me want to upgrade to the 12.9” iPad Pro from the 11” ... stay strong, Jonathan!
Product idea: governance for slide decks.
The amount of time I spend de-uglifying, fixing fonts, and properly aligning things in Google Slides is painful.
Well, I’ve gone from being a big fan of Tesla with a deposit on a vehicle to “what the hell is wrong with Elon?!”
I just can’t be a Tesla customer now.
