Made “fat head” pizza for dinner tonight. Great low-carb alternative pizza! 🍕
Wouldn’t it be great if Netflix or Amazon made an animated adaptation of Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files? A man can dream!
Excited for the Super Bowl! Hopefully the Rams can pull it out for the good of the country. I am betting that 75% of the country is pulling for the Rams, but that 75% of the stadium will be Pats fans. Go Rams! 🐏 🏈 🤩🦉 #SuperbOwl
Been enjoying @awscloud DocumentDB. I definitely wish that there was a developer-friendly tier, or better yet, an entirely consumption-based version a-la Aurora Serverless. In fact, I wish nearly everything was available that way!
As of last night, newer posts on my website now feature an interactive map showing my location, speed, altitude, iPhone charge level, and more at the date and time of publish. Whee! Here is a good example post – https://cleverdevil.io/2019/part-mermaid
Sometimes, life demands a walk and an espresso. ☕️😴
GitHub has introduced "status updates" a-la Twitter and Facebook. The jokes write themselves! #GoForkYourself #VersionedTweets
The new LEGO movie was aces! Took William to see it tonight, and we both loved it. 🧱 🎉
Sticky Toffee Pudding is my favorite dessert of all time, and America’s Test Kitchen has some of the most reliable recipes on the planet. Just finished watching this episode and nearly passed out. https://cleverdevil.io/2019/americas-test-kitchen-19x04-the-perfect-cake
Any Micro.blog users that were noticing problems with my micromemories project for creating an "On This Day" page, I finally tracked down the issue and deployed a fix. Let me know if you still run into issues!
Similarly, Micro.blog users may have noticed issues with my microgram project, where photo grid pages wouldn't display some photos. This is caused by an upstream issue with Micro.blog and image thumbnails, and is being worked on!
Okay, I've also rolled out a bunch of visual tweaks and improvements to microgram. Users – you don't need to do anything to get all of the goodness. Thanks to all for the suggestions!
I have successfully connected my three @wyzecam cameras to Apple HomeKit as motion sensors using a combination of @ifttt, homebridge, and @awscloud (Lambda, SQS, and API Gateway). Hooray for homegrown home automation! 🏡🤖📹
I have moved Indiepaper's site parsing to a self-hosted version of Postlight Mercury Parser, as they're shutting down their service. They've open sourced the project and made it easy to deploy to @awscloud Lambda. LMK if you have trouble!
It’s good to know that in these dark times we can still experience joy. #FixinToBlowItUp http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2019/02/13/home-depot-bomb-threat-was-actually-just-guy-bathroom-joking-he-was-fixin-blow-it-up/
Editing the next episode of Two Dads Talking. Just about done!
At some point in the last few weeks, #Firefox has completely stopped passing keyboard shortcuts through to Google Apps. I can't format text, undo/redo, etc. Seems like a bug somewhere!
Figured out my #Firefox issues with Google Apps – turns out an update to the "StopTheMadness" extension I have installed had toggled some preferences that caused the behavior. All fixed!
Just got a LinkedIn request from someone who has the title "Instagram Growth Hacker" and I threw up in my mouth a little.
The #IndieWebCamp Austin FOMO is real! Have fun, folks.
The ancient family iMac is on the fritz and I am unsure if it'll recover. The good news is that I've now moved my homebridge server over to my Synology NAS, so that's working again. Sadly, the iMac was my home Plex Media Server. Still not sure what to do about that...
If I can’t get the iMac to recover, thinking I’ll just run Plex Media Server on the Synology. It’s not a powerful NAS and won’t support transcoding. Hopefully it’ll be good enough for home usage. I have a powerful cloud server mirror that I can use if I need transcoding.
Okay, I have a plan with this iMac... it appears to be hanging while loading kernel extensions. I'm gonna boot into recovery mode, mount the drive read/write, blast all of them from /Library/Extensions *and* /System/Library/Extensions, and then re-install macOS. Wish me luck 😃
My daughter Colette has been in nearly a dozen musical productions over the last two years, and has been working so hard to improve. Today, she was given the part she was angling for in her next production, and is absolutely over the moon. So am I! Very proud daddy 😀
I have restored the family 2011 iMac to service, running macOS High Sierra, the last supported version of macOS on this hardware. Hopefully this holds us for a few more years. I am considering replacing the internal drive with an SSD, though...
So happy to have fixed the family iMac. After some research, I think I’m going to dive in and replace the hard drive with an SSD to extend the life of this machine a few more years. It’s a shame that I’m stuck on High Sierra, though.
@benwerd Two thoughts: 1. Micro dot blog is a great, IndieWeb-friendly platform that is accessible to consumers. Not fully there yet, but a good model. 2. I like the idea of something like serverpilot.io, which separates the underlying infrastructure from the management.
Hey, look, another episode of Two Dads Talking! - https://twodads.fm/2019/02/28/episode-i-made.html
For Micro.blog users using micromemories to create an "On This Day" page, I've added some clarification to the README for users with custom themes – https://github.com/cleverdevil/micromemories#requirements.
