So the rack will have the switch, my primary server, the Home Assistant RPi, the new NAS, my primary Wi-Fi / router, and a few odds and ends for my fiber connection, Zigbee antenna, other home automation stuff.
I decided to keep my existing UPS for now, in spite of its tower form factor not making sense for the rack. It works fine, so I’ll replace it with a rack mount one when it dies.
Tomorrow will be “rebuild the home lab” day. I’ve spent months prepping, migrating services from my aging NAS to a new server, moving Home Assistant to a dedicated Raspberry Pi, and acquiring a new Synology, a 12U rack, and a 16x2.5G + 4x10G switch.
