As much as the tech press will knock HomePod for its lack of integrations compared to the Echo and Google Home, I think they miss that there are people who prefer Apple's approach to privacy. Also: HomeKit is pretty damn good now.

HomeKit is definitely better. I’m annoyed that I had to pick a different platform for some things a year or so back because Apple wasn’t taking it seriously. All new smarthome purchases must include HomeKit capability though, exception of security products only.

I've really been loving HomeKit. Though, to be fair, I have a limited set of devices at the moment. Oh, and I'm willing to write code and use Homebridge to pull in additional platforms. But, hey, its working incredibly well for me.

You’ve definitely come into it at the right time if you’re looking to custom code things. 😜 I’ve been using @TheWinkApp for years now, fairly platform/protocol agnostic. Integrates with Echo so Echo doesn’t have to directly support every little product I connect.
