Gross. Happy to not be a Roku customer. I'd rather pay more for quality hardware at a sustainable margin than be subjected to more surveillance capitalism.

I dunno, my telemetry says AppleTV collects just as much data as Roku does. I don't see this as such a big deal.

All of my FireTV devices spam me with way more ads every day then my Rokus. Also my cable app is only available on Roku, and many of my channels don’t work well on FireTV.

I haven’t tried Apple TV since the first generation , but FireTV isn’t good at all. And I own 6 of them...

I read the article. A little advertising has never bothered me. My only Roku complaint is no mute button on the remote.
