I've started a short-form podcast (a "microcast") at http://cleverca.st. Its hosted on Micro.blog and I've really enjoyed working on it so far. I've already made improvements from episode 1 to 2, especially with sound quality. Check it out!

@cleverdevil any tips on how you got that sound improvement?

@Zachnielsen two things:
I purchased a Blue Snowball USB microphone. I followed the advice in Jason Snell's excellent GarageBand podcasting guide. Made a world of difference, I think!

@cleverdevil I use a small variation of that exact setup when I do more formal podcasts.
The audio engineer in me likes a bit more mid-low end and a bit more compression on my voice, however Jason is definitely on to something.

@Zak I spent an hour or so tweaking around in GarageBand before finding Jason's article, and never got even close to the quality that his preset provided :)

@cleverdevil I did the same. It’s a great starter. Added a couple of things I didn’t think of. It works pretty well in Logic, if you ever get that far...

@Zak Oh, very cool. Logic is a bit spendy for me at this stage. Maybe if clevercast takes off!

@cleverdevil I just listened to both episodes. Sounds great! Looking forward to more…

@cheesemaker thanks, much appreciated! It was a little scary putting myself out there like that, with no podcasting experience, but I'm learning quickly and enjoying the process.

@cleverdevil oh interesting! So you’re editing the podcasts in GarageBand on your Mac and then uploading them? I didn’t even think about that possibility

@cleverdevil I had your podcast bookmarked since the first day I learned about "micro-casting”. Just listened to both episodes and really enjoyed them. Keep it up man!
