@cleverdevil Oh, you have no idea. On my Pixel 2 here are the Google messaging apps right now:
Allo (I have never used, downloaded to check it out)
Duo (because video chat might be cool for me some day)
Hangouts (what I actually use becuse the Google Voice interface is horrible)
Messages
Google Voice
