All that said, I am thinking its time to move a subset of my email off of Google anyway. Perhaps I will start with just my personal account and my wife’s personal account, which will greatly reduce the cost, and address the vast majority of my privacy concerns.

@cleverdevil really liking FastMail for family mail. My wife and I both have addresses, but have a couple alias accounts that can be pushed to either of us or both. Family@domain.com or public@domain.com for when the inevitable grocery store “needs” one.

@cleverdevil I'll second @Burk in recommending FastMail. I moved to them from Gmail in later 2013, and haven't regretted for one moment.

@AlanRalph thanks for the recommendation!

@cleverdevil Yet another +1 (of many, it seems!) for FastMail. Switched four years ago and have never regretted it.

@cleverdevil FastMail UI’s is great, used it for many years and loved it until Australia approved some ridiculous encryption rules. You should also try Mailbox.org which is built on the same core app which is OX. If you’re not looking to use your own domain try Posteo! 👋

@jsanchez excellent point about the recent changes in Australia... I am currently leaning towards ProtonMail.

@cleverdevil I think the only point of consideration on Proton is the fact that there’s no calendar, just mail and contacts and the price point. I’m currently using Mailbox.org, they’re great and you can use your own domain with DKIM, price point and product is great!
