That said, if Kamala is the nominee, buckle up for a shitload of racism and misogyny from the other side. It is going to be a shitstorm of folks showing us precisely who they are.

@jonathan Not that I wish that on Kamala, but I think it would be beneficial here, with all that's on the line, for the mask to come off the R side of things. A black woman running will send them fully into racist & misogynist orbit.

@cleverdevil There's even a word for the combination of the two, misogynoir.

@jonathan the one thing that mitigates this, at least a little, is that racial base is already riled up and ready to go. So at least that shouldn’t impact voter turnout much. The mysogony, though, I’m less sure about. Kinda feel like the US is about to take our final exam, and I don’t think we’ve studied enough

@toddgrotenhuis @cleverdevil A lot of us are working on it! It's easy to get down, but as Mr. Rogers says, look for the helpers.

@cleverdevil My sincere hope is that the white nationalism is not what unites people voting for Trump and that they do indeed show their true colors to the rest of the GOP. It might split the Republican vote to convince just enough of them not to show up at the polls.

@cleverdevil Sad but true. During the 2020 debate between Harris and Pence, I saw a Facebook “friend” publicly refer to Harris as an “uppity b****” and lots of others responding in approval. A sickening reminder of how much racism and misogyny is out there.

@dynamitemoth this, amongst many other reasons, is why I am not on Facebook anymore 😄
