@jonathan I personally wouldn't put this on Ferrari. If things went according to plan/general expectations (not just Ferrari, but other teams as well), there would've been a racing lap, and Hamilton would've had a solid chance to overtake Russell. (Otherwise, no one would have had a reason to pit.) This, combined with Perez being considered not lapped, points to F1/FIA being at fault.

f1 formula1@saiarcot895 yeah, in the moment I was pissed, but I get the call on reflection. I do think it was the wrong call, though. I bet Lewis would have kept P2, even if there were *2* racing laps. Giving up position so late in a race feels dumb. Lewis is a great defender, Russell didn’t have pace, and he still had fresher tires.
(Yes, screw the FIA for the poor handling of the safety car! While Ferrari’s call was iffy IMO, the FIA has no justification.)
